Equality, diversity and inclusion statement

Love belongs here

At Swanley Meadows, we believe your wedding should feel like you.

Whether you're saying your vows in sparkly heels or muddy boots, in a tailored suit or a rainbow dress, surrounded by quiet countryside or dancing beneath festoon lights - love is love, and it will always be welcome here.

We are proud to be an inclusive wedding venue that welcomes couples, families and guests from all backgrounds, identities and communities. Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is rooted in a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, celebrated and fully themselves on one of the most meaningful days of their life.

Our approach to inclusion

We know inclusivity is not a badge, a marketing trend or a one-time statement. It is an ongoing commitment to listening, learning and creating spaces where people genuinely feel they belong.

As a business, we are committed to creating an environment free from discrimination based on:

  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity or expression
  • Race or ethnicity
  • Religion or belief
  • Disability
  • Neurodiversity
  • Age
  • Marital status
  • Pregnancy or maternity
  • Socioeconomic background

We also recognise that no business gets everything perfect immediately. We are always learning, always listening and always looking for ways to improve the experience we provide for every couple and guest who visits us.

LGBTQ+ inclusivity

From the very beginning, we wanted Swanley Meadows to reflect all kinds of love stories.

When we first started building this venue and exploring the wedding industry, we noticed how little LGBTQ+ representation existed across many wedding spaces and marketing materials. We knew we wanted to create something different - a venue where LGBTQ+ couples would see themselves reflected naturally, comfortably and authentically.

That commitment continues to shape how we work today.

We proudly welcome LGBTQ+ couples and are committed to ensuring every person who visits our venue feels genuinely accepted and celebrated - never tolerated, never treated as an afterthought.

And if you have ever found yourself wondering, “Are we welcome here?” the answer is, wholeheartedly: yes.

What inclusivity looks like at Swanley Meadows

Inclusive communication

We aim to use inclusive language across our website, planning materials, contracts and communications.

We avoid assumptions around gender roles, titles, identities or traditions, and we respect the names, pronouns and preferences of all couples and guests.

Whether your wedding follows tradition, breaks tradition entirely, or creates something completely your own, our role is to support your vision without judgement or expectation.

A celebration that reflects you

We believe weddings should feel personal and authentic.

We welcome celebrations of all styles, traditions and identities, including:

  • Non-traditional ceremonies
  • Same-sex weddings
  • Gender-inclusive celebrations
  • Cultural and fusion weddings
  • Alternative timelines and rituals
  • LGBTQ+ led ceremonies and performances

Whether you want to walk down the aisle together, skip formalities, include drag performances, create queer-led rituals or design a completely unique celebration, we are here to support a day that reflects you fully.

Inclusive supplier relationships

We work with photographers, florists, celebrants, entertainers and stylists who share our values around inclusion, respect and representation.

If couples would like recommendations for inclusive suppliers who align with their identity, culture or wedding vision, we are always happy to help.

Representation matters

We believe visibility matters when it is authentic and meaningful.

We proudly feature real couples from diverse backgrounds across our website, galleries and social media channels (always with consent), because every love story deserves to be seen and celebrated naturally.

Our aim is not tokenism, but genuine representation that reflects the diversity of modern couples and families.

Accessibility and guest experience

We are committed to creating a welcoming environment where all guests feel comfortable, considered and respected.

Team commitment

Our team is expected to uphold the values outlined in this statement in every interaction with couples, guests and suppliers. We are committed to continuing education and ensuring inclusivity remains an active part of how we operate as a venue.

Reporting concerns

We take concerns relating to discrimination, harassment or exclusion seriously.

If any guest, couple or supplier experiences behaviour that conflicts with our values, we encourage them to contact us directly so concerns can be addressed promptly, respectfully and appropriately. To make a report, please contact: enquiries@swanleymeadows.com.
